SAT1-x:LAx and SAT:LA:CAT

  • Crystallization processes using the Czochralski and floating zone methods were performed on more than thirty compositions.
  • The growth processes by the Czochralski method were carried out in an iridium crucible 40 mm in diameter at the pulling rate of 1÷2 mm/h and a rotation rate of 20 rpm in a pure nitrogen atmosphere (the oxygen conc. in the outlet gas was <1000 ppm).
  • Good quality single crystals 18 mm in diameter were grown using seeds oriented along the <111> and <100> crystallographic directions.
  • The solid solution single crystals with compositions along the SAT0.6LA0.4-CAT0.6LA0.4 line were dark yellow, along the SAT0.7LA0.3-CAT0.7LA0.3, CAT1-xLAx and SAT1-xLAx (at 0.23< x < 0.36) were bright yellow and the others were colorless.
