INTERNATIONAL
SCHOOL
AND SYMPOSIUM
ON SYNCHROTRON
RADIATION
IN
NATURAL SCIENCE
June 15-20, 1998, Ustron-
Jaszowiec, POLAND
Organized by: Polish
Synchrotron Radiation Society
Sponsors:
Institute of Physics, Polish Academy of Sciences; Institute
of Physics, Jagiellonian University; Faculty
of Physics, Warsaw University;
Institute of Physical Chemistry, Polish Academy of Sciences;
State Committee
for Scientific Research
SCOPE OF THE SCHOOL Since the first
meeting, in 1992, the ISSRNS has been organizing as a biennial event.
It is a traditional forum for discussing fundamental issues of application
of the synchrotron radiation and related methods in natural science (physics,
chemistry, materials science, molecular biology, biomedicine), covering
in particular the following topics :
-
Synchrotron radiation- instrumentation
-
X-ray absorption and magnetic dichroism
-
X-ray fluorescence
-
Photoelectron spectroscopy
-
Surface and interface studies
-
X-ray scattering and magnetic effects
-
X-ray diffraction
-
Catalysis
-
X-ray microscopy and lithography
-
Infrared spectroscopy (free electron laser)
-
Macromolecular crystallography
-
Atom and molecular studies
The scientific program of the School includes invited general lectures,
poster sessions and panel discussions. The Scientific Committee introduces
also a novel presentation option called "invited original talk" addressed
to the contributors who would like to present particularly interesting,
new results in a short lecture (not exceeding 30 min). The applicant for
the "invited original talk" should
submit, before December 15, 1997,
a standard camera-ready abstract (see below) and, optionally, an extended
abstract (not exceeding 2 pages). The submitted applications will be refereed
and qualified by the Scientific Committee. The winners of the competition,
receiving the status of the "invited original talk" speakers, will
be entitled to pay reduced participation costs. The deadline for submission
of the abstracts of the other
contributed papers (see below) is February
1, 1998
