Jaszowiec 2005 Pre-School
A special tutorial session in Semiconductor
Physics will take place
just before the
School, during the
weekend June 4/5,
2005. It is co-organized by the Foundation
"Pro Physica".
The headline of this year two-day course is
Old
and New Quasiparticles
The aim of this tutorial session is to
introduce students and newcomers to the notion of elementary
excitations in many-body quantum systems such as electrons in
semiconductors. Specific examples, discussed during the lectures, will
illustrate this concept as well as show different methods to detect
various quasiparticles, in particular in newly designed semiconducting
systems. Also the usefulness of old and new quasiparticles in basic and
applied physics will be addressed.
As in the case of the past thirteen Pre-Schools, limited number of
grants which covers the participation in the Courses and in the School
will be offered for students who are chosen by the
International Selection Committee.
Applications for support should be submitted by the students'
supervisors before March 1st, 2005 to an appropriate member of the
Selection Committee or directly to the Chairman of the Tutorial
