OBJECTIVE
The workshop aims at introduction of the specialization "Physics of Low Dimensional Systems" into the academic program of the College of Science in Warsaw, Poland. The workshop is a part of CELDIS activities organised under the I HP-INCO-2 Action of the 5th Framework Programme.

ORGANIZERS
The event has been organized by two partners:
  • The Laboratory of Nanostructures operated jointly by the Low Temperature Physics Group, Institute of Physics, PAS and Institute of Electron Technology
  • The College of Science of UKSW
The workshop is chaired by prof. Tadeusz Skoskiewicz

The following laboratory exercises in nanotechnology will be available:
  1. Pattern design and proximity corrections for electron beam lithography;
  2. Electron beam lithography - practical operation of the scanning electron microscope pattern generator;
  3. Photolitography - practical operation of the ultraviolet photolithography system;
  4. Metalization by magnetron evaporation. Basics of plasma evaporation of metals used in nanostructures fabrication;
  5. AFM - atomic microscope imaging. Hybrid structure magnetic domain mapping;
  6. Quantized conductance. Direct observation of 2e2/h steps at conductance characteristic of PbTe point contact.
