The Biological Physics Group is a part of the

X-ray and Electron Microscopy Laboratory at the

Institute of Physics of the Polish Academy of Sciences.

The Group was founded on January 15, 2004 and it consists

of the following researchers:

Prof. Marek Cieplak (group leader)

Dr. Tomasz Kobiela

Dr. Joanna Sułkowska

Dr. Anna Niedzwiecka

mc@ifpan.edu.pl

kobiela@ifpan.edu.pl

kwiatek@ifpan.edu.pl

annan@ifpan.edu.pl

who come from different experimental or theoretical backgrounds.

The hope is that the Group will provide a new biology-related

focus for research done at the Institute of Physics PAS.

The Group's interests are the kinetics of protein folding,

mechanical manipulations of proteins and biological cells,

understanding of interactions of proteins with DNA and RNA,

photodynamic therapy, and many others.

The experimental techniques the Group has expertise in are:

the stopped-flow electron spin resonance, atomic force microscopy,

X-ray spectroscopy, fluorescence spectroscopy,

calorimetry, chemical kinetics, and high pressure methods.

We seek collaboration at all levels, both locally and globally.
